In a glass half full world, one might say A truck can’t cough up blood if it’s not still alive...

Kinja'd!!!

It’s really not that bad, but I was always a little proud of my rough looking truck’s 100% perfect symphony of moving parts.

Kinja'd!!!

oil consumption and whuffs of smoke are now noticeable, I know why. Being put from a fairly easy life to hard, high speed everyday service at the age of 30. I guess that’s true of anything, this is probably holding up better than any other vehicle would. Even the world’s toughest little truck can wear out it’s true. There’s many miles left to go, just make sure to check the gas and fill up the oil. I guess I could get a ring and valve job done, probably all it needs, But it is rusting much faster than it’s wearing out. I can do serious rust work, but not work miracles.

I just bugs me that once I got it looking ok (it photographs well), That I get a little blue smelly reminder of the inevitable. Nothing lasts forever.

“you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking,

racing around to come up behind you again.

the sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older,

shorter of breath, one day closer to death.”

Not really into the Floyd anymore, but that line has always stuck with me, depressing though it is.

I feel your pain. Just had one of those nasty conversations about the disposition of my old truck with my wife. A little work and it will be fine. She votes to send it to the scrap yard. Rust isn’t an issue, but she sees oxidized paint and is throwing a fit about the “junk heap” sitting in our driveway. No love for old things.

yeah, missus doorhandle-bondo was willing to drive it when it was red and full of holes, but having seen it in a million pieces and cut up with a sawzall outside the back door she’s done with it.
